Private Health Coaching
In my private practice, I work with clients one-on-one, typically in the comfort of their own home. The reason for this is that when clients are dealing with sub-clinical or chronic disease management, possibly for a long time, their weight has more often than not risen to an unhealthy level, typically diagnosed clinically obese, and clients are not only physically uncomfortable but emotionally uncomfortable too.  So privacy, confidentiality and building trust is my priority.

I extend my private practice services to corporate clients because often is the case an employer is concerned about a particular employee and wants me to work with them on a one-to-one basis; this is typically done onsite at the employees workplace, unless the employee is already on STD or LTD and the employer would like me to arrange to meet with their employee at their home address.

Employers realize that the cost of investing in private coaching sessions with me provides an overall bigger ROI :
  • Health insurance costs are reduced for that employee.
  • The employee is absent less and more productive.
  • Return to work strategies (where necessary) reduce the additional costs of having another staff member cover for the absent and/or sick employee.

Confidentiality and trust is always first and foremost; personal information shared with me in my sessions is never discussed with the employees employer, unless they have given me express consent to do so because I am concerned that their condition is dangerous to their health and position, so employees can always be confident that privacy is always maintained.

Counselling v Coaching

  • When we "counsel" clients for change, we are typically looking at past habits and developing solutions that make changes "now".
  • Clients are looking for changes that will free them from their immediate "pain" such as learning how to remove previous nutritional habits.
  • Typically weight is a priority over addressing subclinical or chronic disease management.
    • But Health Coaching works completely differently to counselling in that I help my clients to look forward to the future and to focus on the improvements and changes that they want to see in their lives.
    • Excess weight often comes with a subclinical or chronic disease, but coaching clients are looking to rebuild their health as a priority and once the body has achieved homeostasis, weight loss usually is fast on its' heels.
    • So rather than healing and correcting past habits, which can be the first step, health coaching looks at how you can improve your lifestyle habits to reach your future health goals.

Quite often when I have "counselled" clients, they then enlist my "coaching" services, once they have made sustainable changes to those past dietary habits.
But often is the case with my Health Coaching clients, is that they have made some changes already, and are managing to sustain some of their habits, but they need help in formulating a long-term plan, they might have medical and/or emotional health struggles, and need direction and accountability.

So "Counseling" looks at your past habits and creates solutions for the here and now.
Whereas "Coaching" looks at the future and is a process of developing lifelong health strategies.
And when it comes to Heath Coaching, formulating strategies and not meal plans really comes into its' own as the rigidity of a meal plan should not be the basis of your future plans, so we develop strategies together and adjust as needed, because life can get in the way, and circumstances change, so we need to be flexible and ready to change as needed.

    • My Health Coaching services are formulated as an initial 12-week program.
    • The clients I work with have been diagnosed with subclinical illnesses (such as hypoglycemia, fatigue, migraine and joint pain) or chronic disease (such as cancer, lymphoma, Chron's, colitis, heart disease, type ii diabetes and osteoarthritis).

    • Many of you reading this might already be diagnosed with one or multiple conditions and didn't realize that you are subclinical or chronic disease patients.
    • So my private clients who work with me on my health coaching program are sick on many levels.

    • Programs are developed over an initial 12 week period, primarily because some clients have emotional eating issues to resolve before they address their illness or disease pathway, and even in those short 12 weeks, we may have to adjust our direction several times with regard to nutrition and habits and emotional therapy.

  • At the end of the 12 weeks, we discuss your continued programming, reviewing how far you have come, and if clear future strategies are in place that you feel able to sustain.
    • As a Certified Cancer Coach and a Certified Body Image & eating Disorders Coach, my expertise is with clients who are cancer patients, type 2 diabetics, heart disease clients and those with emotional eating disorders.
    • Sometimes I work with clients for multiple years as we rebuild physical and emotional health, but sometimes 12 weeks is sufficient to get a handle on their health with less frequent coaching sessions.
    • And so that is why at the end of the initial 12 weeks, we sit down to revisit your future goals as it might be that once a month appointments will keep you focused.

A 12-week program is $1750.00+GST
If you would like to meet for a complimentary consultation then please do contact me to arrange and discuss in more detail.

Because one-on-one Health Coaching sessions are extremely involved, I only take on a maximum of 4 new clients at a time, in blocks of 12 weeks and so I do encourage you to reach out to me for that complimentary consultation so that I can determine if I can help you and that we are a good fit for each other.
